My journey to entrepreneurship has been far from straighforward

While some are fortunate to have a clear path from the start, heading straight into college and pursuing their dreams without hesitation, many of us discover ourselves on a more winding journey, encountering unexpected twists and turns. It’s through these life experiences—where wisdom is gained, scars are earned, and inspiration is found—that we truly uncover our authentic selves and move closer to our aspirations.

The story I’m sharing here is just a glimpse of a larger narrative, but I hope it inspires you to explore your own identity and dreams.

Throughout my entrepreneurial journey, several core values have guided me and offered invaluable insights for the road ahead. Freedom, belief, authenticity, worship, creativity, leadership, and grace have profoundly shaped my path. With the benefit of years of life experience, clarity has emerged, even if I might consider myself a late bloomer.

Sailing has always held deep significance for me, a passion inherited from my father and grandfather. There’s a special connection I feel when I’m out on the water—it’s as if I’m closer to my father in those moments. It has a mystique that has always drawn me in.

Losing my father at a young age left a void in my life and sparked a spiritual journey. For years, I felt distanced from God, but His love eventually drew me back to Him. It was during this time that the seeds of my coaching journey were planted, driven by a desire to mentor and support women.

In 1996, sailing resurfaced in my life when I met my future husband, who was starting a corporate team-building business on Lake Lanier in northeast Georgia. By 1998, we embarked on this adventure together. Our first year of marriage brought a son, the start of a business, and our first home.

In addition to sailing and team-building, in 2011, I ventured into the food industry, starting a small business providing healthy meals for families, catering sailing cruises, corporate events, and intimate dinner parties. Despite lacking a professional background, I relied on my talents and determination. Building a website, researching competitors, and praying for success were crucial steps. I priced my first job high, thinking they wouldn’t accept, giving me more time to prepare. Surprisingly, they did, becoming my strongest client for thirteen years.

We cherished the life we built, doing what we loved most. However, as seasons changed, new beginnings beckoned us forward. In 2017, we chose to downsize and transition away from our sailing business, prompting my shift from food to coaching, which I truly feel called to do. Finally, in 2024, we sold the business, allowing me to focus entirely on establishing my coaching practice. This transition required acquiring new skills and placing my trust in God.

Building my dreams meant embracing vulnerability, stepping into discomfort, taking risks, and viewing failure as a stepping stone for growth.

My journey underscores how deeply family background and personal experiences shape our identities. My faith journey and experiencing God’s love have been transformative. Recognizing how uniquely God has designed me—with strengths, talents, and the courage to establish multiple businesses—has been empowering.
